You are not required to get a referral from your primary care physician to be eligible for advanced wound care at HealMedO2. Of course, you are welcome to discuss the best wound treatment options with your doctor if you still have questions. However, HealMedO2 welcomes anyone to come to our facility for a professional wound care evaluation, whether they have a referral or not.
HealMedO2 has a team of wound care specialists who will evaluate your wounds to determine the best treatment services to address them. Our services range from wound cleaning and infection control to more sophisticated treatment methods like hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Many of our patients have seen their chronic and non-healing wounds heal much faster from our hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments.
The healing time depends on the type of wound you have and other health-related factors (such as whether or not you smoke, if you have diabetes and if you exercise). Regular wound therapy sessions at HealMedO2 will also help reduce the healing time.
If the wounds are fresh, you should immediately clean them with soap and warm water to remove all dirt and debris particles and prevent infection. You should also wrap your wounds with a sterilized bandage or dressing to control the bleeding to further prevent infection. Visit your nearest urgent care facility if you need assistance with this.
